Teens charged in theft of Seminole winnings

Three teens have been charged for stealing $24,000 in winnings from a casino owned by the Seminole Tribe of Florida.

Authorities said the 18-year-olds robbed two college students who won the money at a poker tournament in March. The incident occurred off the reservation, not at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.

A spokesperson for the tribe said casino winners aren't escorted off the property, a practice at other casinos. "With regard to security at the Hard Rock, this is not a place where people get away with things," Gary Bitner told The South Florida Sun-Sentinel. "There are nearly 700 cameras everywhere."

Authorities used surveillance footage from the casino to identify the suspects.
