Suit seeks to bar Seminole Tribe's card games

A non-Indian casino in Florida filed a lawsuit in federal court aimed at barring the Seminole Tribe from operating card games.

The Pompano Park Isle Casino sued Gov. Charlie Crist (R) and Interior Secretary Dirk Kempthorne. The complaint said the Class III compact signed by Crist and approved by Kempthorne violates the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act.

The tribe won the right to offer slot machines after voters in south Florida legalized them. But Crist also agreed to allow the tribe to operate blackjack and other card games, a move that is the subject of another lawsuit.
