The Confederated Tribes of Coos, Lower Umpqua and Siuslaw Indians and the city of Florence, Oregon, are finalizing an agreement for police services at the Three Rivers Casino.
The casino is located on a 98-acre parcel known as the Hatch Tract. The agreement is limited to police services on the tract.
The land was the subject of controversy because casino opponents claimed it couldn't be used for gaming. The courts upheld a National Indian Gaming Commission opinion that said the tribe qualified for a "restored lands" exception in Section 20 of the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act.
