Saginaw Chippewa Tribe shares new casino payments

The Saginaw Chippewa Tribe of Michigan distributed the first payments from its new casino to local governments on Thursday.

The tribe opened the Saganing Eagles Landing Casino on December 31, 2007. The tribe shared 2 percent of net winnings from the first three months of operation, or nearly $379,000.

The tribe also operates the Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort. Since 1994, the tribe has distributed $92.4 million, Chief Fred Cantu Jr. said.
