Lac du Flambeau project wins Mississippi license

A casino boat being backed by the Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa of Wisconsin has been awarded a license by the Mississippi Gaming Commission.

The tribe is one of the partners in the Grand Soleil Casino Resort in Natchez. The facility will feature slot machines, table games, a 124-room hotel and restaurant when it opens later this year.

The project has been controversial for the tribe. Some members say it has strained the tribe's financial situation.
