The North Fork Rancheria of
Mono Indians is and the Wiyot Tribe signed Class III gaming compacts with California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger (R) on Monday.
The deals allow the North Fork Rancheria to proceed with a controversial off-reservation casino.
The Wiyot Tribe will get a share in the revenues in exchange for not building a casino on its reservation.
The compacts require approval by the state Legislature. One lawmaker had introduced a bill to block the North Fork casino because other tribes oppose it.
The compacts also need approval from the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
