"Soboba tribal officials made a compelling argument to annex land into their reservation for a new casino when they opened the $11 million Club at Soboba on Friday on the thoroughly renovated golf course they purchased in 2004.
The building and golf course showcase the quality of what the tribe has in mind for a casino and hotel.
The clubhouse features subtle earth tones, Spanish-style architecture with Native American interior themes and casual, rustic elegance. There is nothing like it in the San Jacinto Valley.
The clubhouse, in effect, is a very persuasive PR tool.
The Soboba Band of Luiseño Indians hopes to annex land it purchased at Lake Park Drive and Soboba Road into its reservation. It would enable the tribe to build a casino and hotel right by the 44-year-old golf course.
The Soboba tribe will need support to convince federal lawmakers to make land for the casino part of the reservation."
