NIGA sees slowdown in growth of tribal casinos

The National Indian Gaming Association says the tribal casino industry continues to grow but at a slower pace.

In 2006, the industry saw 12 percent growth. In 2007, however, the rate fell in half, to 5.5 or 6 percent, Indian Country Today reports.

Despite the slowdown, NIGA executive director Mark Van Norman is confident that the tribal casino industry will no shrink.

NIGA is holding its annual trade show and convention in San Diego, California, from April 20-23.
