County holds final hearing on Cowlitz casino

Commissioners in Clark County, Washington, held the last of three hearings on the casino sought by the Cowlitz Tribe.

The county is trying to determine whether to enter into an intergovernmental agreement for the Cowlitz Casino. Most people who testified at the hearings oppose the idea.

The county and the tribe had an agreement but it was struck down in the state court system. The tribe subsequently incorporated it through a gaming ordinance that was approved by the National Indian Gaming Commission.

Commissioners recently passed a resolution that opposes a "major commercial gaming facility" in the county.
