The Santa Ysabel Band of Diegueño Indians has failed to make over $400,000 in gaming payments to
San Diego County and owes an undisclosed amount to the state of California.
The tribe opened the
Santa Ysabel Casino and Resort almost a year ago. But business hasn't been going so well and the tribe hasn't made its payment to the county under a 2003 compact.
The compact also requires the tribe to pay 5 percent of net profits to the state. That money hasn't been paid either, the
California Gambling Control Commission. said.
The tribe and the county are headed to arbitration if the issue isn't resolved by the end of the month.
