The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation of Connecticut is getting ready to debut a $700 million addition to the Foxwoods Resort Casino.
The MGM Grand at Foxwoods is the product of a partnership for the tribe and for gaming giant MGM Mirage. Foxwoods gets to tap into MGM's huge customer base and MGM gets to expand its brand into a new market.
“This is a little bit of Las Vegas in Connecticut,” executive Gillian Murphy, Sr. tells Hotel Interactive.. “I think the MGM Grand brand is very well known in gaming and within the context of Las Vegas. The new property will give us another brand which gives people more choices. We will be a full destination with two distinct brands.”
The new facility debuts in May. It features a casino, an 824-room hotel, a conference center and retail and restaurant space.
