Santa Ysabel Band late with gaming payments

The San Ysabel Band of Diegueño Indians has fallen behind in its gaming payments to San Diego County, California.

The tribe's 2003 compact requires payments to the county for the impacts of its Santa Ysabel Resort and Casino. But a poor economy and recent natural disasters have the tribe focusing on other priorities.

“It hasn't been what we expected,” Chairman Johnny Hernandez told The San Diego-Union Tribune. “Look at what we've been through."

The tribe owes $404,144 for municipal services and gambling addiction programs.
