The St. Regis Mohawk Tribe officially ended its bid for an off-reservation casino in the Catskills region of New York.
The tribe and partner Empire Resorts wanted to turn the Monticello Raceway into a Class III casino.
But after Empire reached a deal for another gaming facility, the Mohawks said they were walking away from the project.
The tribe is also dropping a lawsuit against the Bush administration over the Interior Department's rejection of the casino. The tribe was challenging a new policy that restricts off-reservation gaming.
