House to hold hearing on Class II rules in Oklahoma

Rep. Dan Boren (D-Oklahoma) The House Natural Resources Committee plans to field hearing in Oklahoma to discuss the National Indian Gaming Commission's proposed Class II regulations.

The hearing is tentatively scheduled to take place in Miami. It was requested by Rep. Dan Boren (D-Oklahoma), a member of the committee whose district includes a number of tribes.

Oklahoma tribes are concerned about the proposed regulations. They say it will limit the types of games they can run without sharing revenues with the state.

A study commissioned by the NIGC confirms that tribes across the country will lose millions of dollars. Oklahoma represents more than half of the entire Class II market, economist Alan Meister said [PDF: Study].
