Shingle Springs Band welcomes thousands to casino

The Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians said 10,000 people lined up for the opening of the Red Hawk Casino on Wednesday. Traffic was backed up on a major highway leading to the $530 million facility. But customers were pleased with what they found. "I think it's marvelous, absolutely gorgeous," one customer said, noting: "It's a shorter trip than Tahoe or Jackson." The casino is located east of Sacramento, in an area with three other tribal facilities. Get the Story:
