The Red Lake Nation of Minnesota broke ground on a new casino and hotel that is scheduled to open in November 2009.
The facility will feature 270 slot machines, a 40-room hotel, a restaurant, a convention center and entertainment space. Future plans could include a golf course and powwow grounds.
The tribe is financing the project with a $31 million loan from the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community of Minnesota, known as one of the most generous tribes in Indian Country.
The casino project will utilize $21.8 million of the loan.
