Pechanga Band to lay off casino employees

The Pechanga Band of Luiseño Indians will lay off as many as 400 employees at the Pechanga Resort & Casino. Officials blamed the economy for the layoffs, which represent about 9 percent of the casino workforce. “Contrary to public opinion, gaming is not immune to economic challenges,’’ the tribe's public affairs director told The Palm Springs Desert Sun. The news came as Marc Macarro was elected to a seventh term as chairman of the tribe. Get the Story:
