The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation of Connecticut has laid off nearly 200 casino employees.
Middle managers and some hourly employees at the Foxwoods Resort Casino were laid off yesterday. The tribe's new facility, MGM Grand at Foxwoods, was not affected.
The Norwich Bulletin said the layoffs are probably the first in the casino's 16-year history. A spokesperson said the tribe was looking to control spending.
