The new casino operated by the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation and MGM Mirage contributed to an increase of more than 2,900 jobs in the state of Connecticut.
The MGM Grand at Foxwoods held its grand opening on May 17. The facility employs about 1,700 people.
The state's unemployment rate, however, went up from April to May and l was slightly below the national average.
