The Quapaw Tribe of Oklahoma gave a tour of its new $301 million casino to officials in Cherokee County, Kansas. Chairman John Berrey showed the commissioner around the Downstream Casino Resort. The facility, which will employ 1,200 people, opens July 5. "I think it’s grand," Commissioner Charlie Napier told The Joplin Globe after the tour. "I was kind of overwhelmed by the size of it, especially the gaming part. It’s very impressive." The facility is located in parts of Oklahoma, Kansas and Missouri. The county has a lawsuit pending in federal court that challenges whether portion of the casino in Oklahoma was taken into trust for gaming purposes. The case doesn't appear to have moved much and with the opening date rapidly approaching, theDepartment of Justice filed a motion to dismiss. Get the Story:
