The Lac du Flambeau Band of
Lake Superior Chippewa is negotiating a Class III gaming compact with the state of Wisconsin.
The tribe's 1998 compact was due to expire in July 2004. But since a new deal couldn't be reached in time, the compact was automatically extended for another five years.
The five years isn't completely up but both sides say they have reached agreement on some issues -- including revenue sharing and back payments. The new compact is likely to last longer than five years.
