The city council in Cloverdale, California, voted 4-0 on a resolution against the casino sought by the Cloverdale Rancheria of Pomo Indians.
The tribe wants to build a casino on about 80 acres in the city. Sealaska, an Alaska Native regional corporation, helped the tribe buy the land.
Some residents supported the casino, citing jobs and revenues. But the resolution passed by the council cited crime and a loss of land.
