The Shingle Springs
Band of Miwok Indians plans to open the Red Hawk Casino in December.
The tribe gave the media a preview of the facility, which broke ground earlier this year. The casino features 2,000 slot machines table games, six restaurants, four bars and a day care center.
As part of the project, the state approved the construction of a highway overpass. Work is about 70 percent complete, Chairman Nicholas Fonseca said.
The tribe also wants to ensure the casino and reservation residents have enough water. An agreement is being developed with the El Dorado Irrigation District.
