The Menominee Nation of Wisconsin plans to spend $80 million to upgrade its casino on the reservation.
The tribe plans to renovate the gaming floor at the Menominee Casino-Bingo-Hotel, expand the hotel and add a pool, restaurant and convention space. "We just have to stay current," Chairwoman Lisa Waukau told The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.
Waukau said the tribe is facing increased competition from other tribes. She said the could lose 25 percent of its business without the upgrades.
Separately, the tribe is pursuing an off-reservation casino that is still under review by the Bush administration.
