The Maine House voted 101-42 in favor of a bill to authorize a slot machine facility for the Penobscot Nation.
The tribe proposed a facility with 400 slot machines. But the House pared it down to 300 machines that can only be operated when the tribe runs high-stakes beano games.
The bill is still being considered in the Senate. Gov. John Baldacci (D) says he will veto the measure.
