The board of supervisors in Amador County, California, voted 3-2 on Tuesday to delay action on a casino deal with the Buena Vista Rancheria of Me-Wuk Indians.

The tribe wants to pay the county $18 million up front, plus about $8 million a year, for the casino. In exchange, T=the county would have to give up its lawsuit against the tribe's federal recognition.

The tribe has already signed a gaming compact with Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger (R). But some officials and residents remain adamantly opposed to the casino.

"I won't accept the blood money," said Richard Forster, the chairman of the board, The Sacramento Bee reported.

In related northern California casino news, the board of supervisors in Sonoma County rejected a proposal to put an Indian gaming referendum on the June 3 ballot. Officials said an advisory vote would be pointless and divisive.
