Officials in San Jacinto, California, are raising concerns about the Soboba Band of Luiseño Indians' plan to acquire land for a casino and hotel.
The city wants the Bureau of Indian Affairs to address "potential environmental and social impacts" of the casino. The letter doesn't outright oppose the project, however.
The tribe wants 535 acres placed in trust and plans to use 35 to 40 acres for a 90,000-square foot casino and a 224,000-square-foot hotel.
