The Shawnee Tribe is announcing plans for a casino in Oklahoma City.
The tribe has a contract to purchase 100 acres near a major interstate.
A news conference will be held on Wednesday at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum to discuss the proposal.
The tribe was recognized by an act of Congress in 2000. The law appeared to give the tribe the ability to open a casino just about anywhere in Oklahoma.
After word of an Oklahoma City casino surfaced in 2005,
Oklahoma's Congressional delegation introduced a rider to force the tribe to go through the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act process for a casino.
