Mohegan casino executive leaves position

Roland J. Harris, a top gaming executive for the Mohegan Tribe of Connecticut, resigned his post on Tuesday, The New London Day reports.

Harris is a former chairman of the tribe. He helped open Mohegan Sun, the tribe's successful casino.

Harris has been serving as senior vice president of project management for the Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority. He was overseeing a casino expansion and out-of-state gaming projects.

Neither Harris nor the tribe's chief executive officer would comment on the reasons for the resignation.

In related news, the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation said the vice president of table games and the scheduler for card dealers have not been fired, as The Day had reported. Dealers are the Foxwoods Resort Casino recently voted to join the United Auto Workers union.
