The Saginaw Chippewa Tribe of Michigan distributed more than $3.7 million in gaming revenues to local schools and governments.
The tribe's 1993 compact requires 2 percent of its net profits from electronic gaming at the Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort to be shared with local schools and governments. Payments this year totaled $7.3 million.
"Part of our culture, our heritage is to share with our communities," Chief Fred Cantu said, The Mt. Pleasant Morning Sun reported.
