Quapaw Tribe moves forward with $200M casino

The Quapaw Tribe of Oklahoma is moving ahead with plans for a $200 million casino that will extend into parts of Kansas and Missouri.

The framework for the Downstream Casino Resort went up yesterday. More than 2,400 yards of concrete have been poured for the 70,000-square-foot foundation, the Associated Press reported.

The gaming and hotel part of the casino will be built on the Oklahoma side. The parking lot is located in Kansas, with part of the traffic entrance in Missouri.

Officials in Cherokee County, Kansas, are questioning whether the tribe can build in Kansas. They are seeking information from the Bureau of Indian Affairs and the National Indian Gaming Commission.
