Lawmakers haven't endorsed Choctaw casino
Two lawmakers said they haven't endorsed the off-reservation casino sought by the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians despite statements that appear on a tribal website. Sen. Trent Lott (R-Mississippi) and Rep. Chip Pickering (R-Mississippi) are listed as "Opinion Leaders" on a website that promotes the casino. But both issued statements on Friday to say they haven't endorsed the plan or their inclusion on the site. The tribe wants to build a casino in Ocean Springs, more than 200 miles from the reservation.. A non-binding referendum on the project is being held in Jackson County in November. Get the Story:
