The Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians' proposed off-reservation casino is a "win-win" for the tribe and Jackson County, Miko Beasley Denson said on Wednesday. Denson, who was elected chief in July, said the casino will generate jobs and revenue for the tribe, the region and the state. He said the tribe will pay "impact fees" to local governments for schools and services. The casino would be located on 100 acres in Ocean Springs, more than 200 miles from the reservation. The tribe needs federal and state approval to operate a gaming facility at the site. The county has scheduled a non-binding referendum in November. Denson has indicated the tribe will proceed regardless of the outcome. The casino would feature a hotel, a spa and fitness center, a golf course, a theater, a convention center, a RV park gas station and a movie theater. Get the Story:
