Groups claim Chumash Tribe violates compact

Two groups are claiming the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians is violating its compact with California.

The Preservation of Los Olivos and Preservation of Santa Ynez filed a complaint with the state Gambling Control Commission. The group say the tribe is expanding its gaming enterprise by buying off-reservation properties.

The commission, however, determined there no violations. But the groups say Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger (R) needs to step in.
