The Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma is transforming its $60 million casino in Durant into a resort that it hopes will attract more gamblers from Texas.
The 108,844-square-foot facility was completed in 2006. The tribe plans to add more hotel rooms, more food and retail options and other amenities.
“Within the next two years, we hope to be a resort destination, especially to go after the Texas market, to bring those Texas dollars into Oklahoma,” Janie Dillard, the tribe's gaming director, told The Journal Record.
Durant is only about 20 miles from the Texas border and about 90 miles from the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The tribe buses in customers from Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas and Kansas.
