Michigan tribes poised to break billion-dollar barrier
With one new casino and two more on the way, Michigan's tribes are poised to generate more than $1 billion in gaming revenues. Revenues from 17 tribal casinos have hovered around $900 million for several years, according to The Detroit News. But the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians just opened a huge new facility and two more tribes are set to open their casinos in the coming years. Eleven of the tribal casino are in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. The new casinos are in southwestern Michigan, closer to Indiana and Illinois. "If there is any new Indian casino growth in Michigan, it will come from southwestern Michigan," Larry Rosenthal, a Washington, D.C., lobbyist told the News. Get the Story:
