Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe advances gaming

A year ago, gaming was a dead end issue in Massachusetts. Now everyone thinks casino-style games are on the way thanks to the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe.

The tribe wants to build a $1 billion resort in the town of Middleboro. On Saturday, voters there overwhelmingly approved an agreement to host the casino.

Attention now turns to the State Legislature and to Gov. Deval Patrick (D). Both will play a role in the tribe's efforts to legalize Class III games. Race tracks and gaming developers are optimistic.
