A task force will present its report to Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick (D) by the end of the week, as voters in the town of Middleboro vote on a casino for the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe.
Patrick created a task force to examine the pros and cons of gaming. But he won't release the group's report until he has come up with his position on the issue.
Meanwhile, the tribe is getting ready to vote on the casino deal it offered to Middleboro. The tribal council meets tonight.
The town itself votes on the deal on Saturday. As many as 10,000 residents could come up for a special town meeting.
The agreement calls for the tribe to share at least $11 million a year with the town and pay for $250 million in infrastructure improvements. The tribe has already started seeking state and federal funds to pay for some of the improvements.
