Mohegan Tribe eyes Atlantic City for casino

The Mohegan Tribe of Connecticut is interested in Atlantic City, the chief executive of the Mohegan Sun Casino said.

"We are always seeking to grow our company and have always felt that our products and our brand would be successful in Atlantic City," Mitchell Etess told The Atlantic City Press.

Casino executives met with Atlantic County officials on Monday to discuss the tribe's possible presence in New Jersey. "They are looking to complete a triangle between their property in Connecticut, their property in the Poconos and Atlantic City," state Sen. James “Sonny” McCullough, a Republican, told the paper.

In addition to the highly successful Mohegan Sun casino on its reservation, the tribe operates a racetrack with slot machines in Pennsylvania. The tribe is also financing other tribal casino projects, including an off-reservation casino for the Menominee Nation in Wisconsin and a casino for the Cowlitz Tribe of Washington.
