County continues to back Cowlitz Tribe deal

Commissioners in Clark County in Washington continue to back a casino agreement with the Cowlitz Tribe.

The county signed a memorandum of understanding with the tribe. But a state hearing board invalidated the MOU last week.

The commissioners have decided to appeal the board's ruling, sending it to the county court system. The Columbian said the process could take up to two years to resolve.

The tribe is seeking to acquire 152 acres in trust for an initial reservation [Cowlitz Casino Site].
