Connecticut tribes report fewer slot machine revenues

Slot machine revenues at Connecticut's two tribal casinos fell $85 million in May 2007 compared to a year earlier, The Norwich Bulletin reports.

The Foxwoods Resort Casino, owned by the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation, reported $787.3 million in revenues, down from $829.8 million in May 2006. At the Mohegan Sun Casino, owned by the Mohegan Tribe, revenues fell to $868.6 million from $911.4 million a year ago.

Foxwoods President John O'Brien attributed the drop to competition in New England and cost-of-living increases.

The two tribes each share 25 percent of slot revenues with the state.
