Arizona tribes share $24.6M with state in first quarter

Arizona's 15 gaming tribes contributed $24.6 million to the state for the first quarter of 2007.

The amount was a 9.5 percent increase over the same quarter in 2006. Revenue has grown every quarter since spring 2003, when tribes started contributing to the state.

Overall, the tribes have shared $276 million in the past four years. The money goes to education, problem-gambling programs, emergency services, wildlife and tourism funds and regulatory expenses of the state Department of Gaming.
