Texas tribes lobby for gaming legislation

Texas tribes were at the state Capitol on Tuesday to support legislation to restore their gaming rights.

The Tigua Tribe and the Alabama-Coushatta Tribe are unable to engage in Class III gaming due to special acts of Congress. Their casinos were shut down in a court fight with the state.

Rep. Norma Chavez is sponsoring legislation to amend the state constitution to allow the tribes to resume Class III gaming.
