Navajo Nation Council overrides gaming veto

The Navajo Nation Council overrode a veto of legislation that creates a new gaming enterprise.

President Joe Shirley Jr. vetoed the bill because he said it conflicts with the tribe's main gaming enterprise. He also said it conflicts with the tribe's compacts with New Mexico and Arizona.

But council delegates overrode the veto yesterday, creating a gaming enterprise for the Tse' Daa' Kaan Chapter in New Mexico. Other chapters are considering their own enterprises.
