The Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma is planning a big expansion of its casino near Texas.
The Choctaw Casino in Durant will undergo a two-phase expansion. The first phase adds 300,000 square feet and 3,000 electronic machines, a 350-room hotel, a coliseum, an events center, two restaurants and a buffet, two lounges and retail outlets to the facility.
Construction on the first phase starts in January 2008 and expected to be completed in 2010.
The second phase will bring a 780-space parking garage to the casino.
Most of the customers at the casino come from Texas as the border is about 20 miles away. The Chickasaw Nation operates a facility near Texas that will also be undergoing an expansion.
