The Jackson County Board of Supervisors is expected to pass a resolution against the off-reservation casino sought by the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians.
Supervisor John McKay said the county needs to "take a stand." More than 60 percent of voters rejected the casino in a non-binding referendum last week.
The tribe said it intends to move forward despite the outcome. Plans call to use a 100-acre site near a major interstate for a $375 million casino resort.
The tribe is asking the Bureau of Indian Affairs to approve the use of the land for gaming.
