The Wyandotte Nation of Oklahoma says nothing stands in the way of its out-of-state casino in Kansas.
The tribe has spent an estimated $20 million to remodel the former Scottish Rite Temple in downtown Kansas City. When the work is done, the 20,000-square-foot 7th Street Casino will house 400 Class II machines.
The tribe hopes to open the facility as early as December. But state officials are going to try to block the tribe from using the site for gaming.
The tribe bought the parcel with land claim settlement funds. It has already been taken into trust by the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
