The Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation of Kansas is reportedly close to a deal for a casino in Illinois.
The tribe has been negotiating with DeKalb County. The agreement would address taxation, municipal services and other issues.
The tribe wants to build a Class III facility in Shabbona. The land is located within a 1,280-acre reservation that was set aside for a Potawatomi chief in the 1800s.
The tribe says the reservation still exists but the Interior Department has yet to make an Indian lands determination for the proposed casino.
