The Seminole Tribe would phase in slot machines under the latest draft of a proposed Class III gaming compact with the state of Florida.
The tribe would convert 75 percent of its Class II machines to slot machines within two years, with the remainder to be converted over 5 years. The tribe would share the same percentage of revenues with the state regardless of the number of Class III machines.
The tribe and the state have been negotiating for five months. "I think we're very close to resolving the issues," a lawyer for the tribe told The South Florida Sun-Sentinel.
