Members of the Quechan Nation will vote next month whether to build a casino at a site that elders say is sacred.
Tribal leaders selected the site near Yuma, Arizona, for a new casino. Elders say the development would hurt the Pilot Knob area, which is home to several sacred sites.
Despite the vote, elder Vernon Smith believes the tribe will go ahead with the casino no matter what voters say. "I don't think it's going to matter anyway," he told The Yuma Sun.
